It has been over two weeks and the Pushor Mitchell Kelowna Apple Triathlon is still very much in my thoughts. We were fortunate to have a very talented Kelowna photographer capture some of Sunday's action. It is always good to see the world from a different perspective now and then and photography is no different. Click here to see Christina Bombaek's photos.

What an amazing day for the participants and the photographers! The famous Okanagan weather showed up and it was just perfect for some great action shots. (although some of the swimmers did mention the water was a little chilly!)
Both Cal and I took a lot of photos from Day One and we will slowly putting them up on the server.
Part One of William's shots can be seen by clicking here.
Fiona Dixon was also on the course and her photos will be posted shortly as well.
Kelowna Apple Triathlon Starts Today!

Every year this event keeps getting better and better. I truly believe this is because of great planning, organization and a huge helping of volunteers. This year has set another record in the amount of participants. It also means a lot to the community as it is estimated that the Pushor MitchellKelowna Apple Triathlon brings in around 650 000 dollars into our city and surrounding area each year.
So come on down and support the athletes! Be sure to check the event website for maps and road closure information.

I have to admit that I love exploring the backroads of Ireland. So when I came across this sign just outside of Bantry, County Cork, I was immediately intriguged and I had to dive off into the unkown. Well, I am glad I did. I am also sad that I did not pack my trusty 70 - 200mm f2.8 Canon lens with me. Anyway, the pictures are what they are and there were people having fun. Click here for the photos.
Special thanks to Julia Larkin for sending us the 2010 MotoPlex shedule. For those intererested, click here. It looks like a whole lot of fun for the family.

Okanagan swimmers draw attention to the environment!
Kelowna – On July 3rd five swimmers entered Georgia Strait, or the northern arm of the newly named Salish Sea, near Sechelt and emerged less than 10 hours later at Pipers Beach in Nanaimo. The swimmers crossed this 30 km stretch of water, roughly the same distance as the English Channel crossing, in order to draw attention to increased environmental pressure being put on the Strait of Georgia.
1500 specators were treated to a wild night of high speed, hard bumps and scary crashes. Kelowna's very own Peach Tarts took on the fiesty Raggedy Rollers of the North Okanagan. As a debut sport for Prospera Place, it was a great success.
Kelowna ended up on top at the end of the evening with a score of 244 - 201, pushing the limits of the hockey score board!
Join us for some derby action at our very first home opener June 19th at Prospera Place in Kelowna.
Tickets are available at www.selectyourtickets.com - $12.50 each, general admission only. Kids under 12 are free!
Doors at 6pm, Game at 7pm
Get there early to check out all the action trackside in our suicide seats and cheer on your very own Peach Tarts!
